johnnydirtyshoes does DeVault
Written by William F. DeVault on June 8, 2008 – 7:02 pm -The lead singer for the band johnnydirtyshoes had asked permission to read my poem Darfur (Jesus Wept) at a concert and rally over the holocaust in the Sudan…I have since become aware that not only did he do the reading, but it was videotaped and now appears on YouTube!

Mr. DeVault,
Anthony, from johnnydirtyshoes, here - thanks for allowing us to share your poem at the benefit concert. I’m glad you enjoyed the video I posted on YouTube, and I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear we were able to raise a little over $2,000 for Doctors Without Borders in Darfur.
Best,
Anthony

Anthony, thank you guys for not only sharing my works, but for your help in raising money for the cause.
I may be down your way in mid-late August and would love to see if you guys are playing anywhere in that time frame so I can catch your show.

Bill, that’s beautiful. It’s always a pleasure to learn that someone else used our work for a good cause. And Darfur is a mighty good cause. They raised money too. Wonderful!
I found out one of my poems was used at a public event marking the 40th anniversary of King’s assassination. Gave me a little warm rub.
Darfur (Jesus Wept) is a moving poem, as I ‘ve said before.
