New Sounds in the City
Posted by William F. DeVault | Filed under Radio City of Legends
If you are a regular listener to my internet radio station Radio City of Legends at Live365.com, you will find I finally got off my ass and updated the playlists a bit today, adding tracks from Evangelist AND restoring some tracks I had previously backed out (and retiring a few of the elder podcasts).
Enjoi!
July 5th
Posted by William F. DeVault | Filed under Blogosphere, Evangelist, Journal, Links, Poetry, Radio City of Legends, podcast
No, I am not confused, I know today is July 1st.
I am just putting emphasis on that date. It’s going to be a brutal day for me. Deadlines that extend beyond the not-dead and the undead. Impossible goals.
Bring them on.
On that date, at 12 noon, EDT, a select group of people (even they do not know who they are, nor will they, in advance) will receive an email invitation to download and listen to previously unreleased tracks from Evangelist, my new CD. This will be all of the previously unreleased tracks.
They will be asked to give comments and rate them. Not that I take seriously anyone’s counsel but mine own, I just like hearing how other people perceive things (even whack jobs sometimes have epiphanies, you know).
The new protest track, Kitabu, will be linked to multiple sites that already embrace my politically conscious works.
My internet radio station at Live/365 will be getting a major overhaul. You have no idea how arduous that is.
I will also be unveiling a series of new chapters to Tales of the Amomancer on the Random Drafts and Chapters blog.
I will also be announcing the three next book projects being put out by Peacat Press (As such was the first). The Peacat site will be getting a facelift that day.
I will be unveiling my new, mighty 100+ blogroll on this site.
All of this will be accomplished between 0000 hours and 2400 hours, EDT, on July 5th.
On the 6th, I will rest. Yeah, right. Why July 5th? Well, it works with my schedule and it is, believe it or not National Workaholics Day here in the US of A.
I am not as clueless as I sometimes seem.
Radio is back on the air

In addition to the fine 24/7 service provided by Live365 Internet Radio, I have begun the process of restoring Radio City of Legends to its former glory.
To listen to hours of poetry, discussion and interviews by and with myself, and such luminaries as Larry Jaffe, Dan Mctaggart and Nordette Adams, you can click on the Audio permalink, at the top of the page, or go to http://cityoflegends.com/radio-city-of-legends/.
Your choice. Enjoi.
Lips Loose in Los Angeles
Posted by William F. DeVault | Filed under Journal, Peri, Radio City of Legends, The Panther

I really can’t say enough about the wonderful reaction to our latest music and poetry fusion, "Right Set of Lips". It is gratifying and fun to hear the feedback and see the counter zoom as more people listen and refer it to their friends…this tells me that we are onto something.
If you haven’t yet given it a listen, you can find it on my City of Legends website under the ‘Radio Page’. That version is framed by my intro and the usual theme music from the podcast, From Out of the City…which adds what may be unnecessary adornment to a simple, straightforward piece, one kind soul compared it to the stripped down "Blackbird" by The Beatles. I am aware that this is probably hyperbole from someone wanting a free book or laid, but it is still food for a much-battered ego.
If you just want to hear the raw piece you can get it at my MySpace site, along with a few other pieces: http://www.myspace.com/williamfdevaultandthegodsoflove.
I am still pulling together my last minute plans for Los Angeles. I will be there from September 12-19, just a couple weeks away, and still have not worked out all the details of where I am staying and who I’ll be visiting with. If you’re an old friend I have misplaced, or a reader who wants to buy me lunch, or an eccentric but gorgeous billionaire romantic poetry fan, you can drop me a line at williamfdevault@cityoflegends.com .
I am planning to meet with my friend Lenny, if time and funds allow make a day trip to Joshua Tree to recharge my spiritual batteries, and (duh) attend my daughter’s wedding. The rest is fluid…I have been told not to expect to be entertained or tapped for any duty by the wedding planners, and my desire to spend some time with my sons on the loose in my city may be thwarted.
Sigh.
Top Ten people I’d most like to hear from before I go?
Dar, Alisha, Bob Davi (I lost his email address…believe it or not), Avi, Dave Demeter, Sandy (unlikely, but I still think of her as a friend), Kevin Rapp, Lauren, George Clooney (Hey, I hear he’s good on letting people crash at his place), Elizabeth Roses (I should have asked her out), Q and Ellen. I know Larry has moved to Florida. The Panther lives in LA now, but I am pretty sure her hubby and anyone asociated with the wedding would be scandalized if we sat down to tea (and we all know I avoid scandal at all costs).
The odds on any of those? I fully expect one or two surprises, but won’t hold my breath. Blue is not a good colour for me.
Dreams, Goblins and Intimacies
Posted by William F. DeVault | Filed under Radio City of Legends
Three people have already signed on to be alternate readers for my special podcst show later this month, where some of my poems will be read by other writers and readers…volunteers are still welcome…drop me a line if you like.
I was gratified when I swung by the Internet Archive at www.archive.org, which is where I stow my soundfiles…the response has been nice and downloads of my poetry are starting to increase…
I was interested to note the big movers, those that have a high "batting average" wherein it is the ratio of downloads to listens that is used to track popularity.
Current big dogs:
The Philosophy of Dreams ( 25%)
My guess on #3 is that by the time you are through listening to me do "Aside, Astride the Phoenix", "Gibbous" and "Intimacies", you have better things to do than download.
Just my thoughts.
I have a chunk of work to do this evening, trying to juggle the flaming cats in zero gravity required to assemble this week’s show of FROM AN UNEXPECTED QUARTER, featuring Nordette Adams.
