improving your listening experience

Written by William F. DeVault on November 20, 2008 – 6:14 am -

Out of the goodness of my heart.  And to silence the people griping.  I have modified the free CD track page at www.williamfdevault.com to include a player.

(sound of crickets)

Hey.

Maybe I need to explain more fully.  When you go to the page (linked above, for the truly lazy amongst you) with the free tracks, you will find the old, gold table for downloads, with the tracks delineated by CD.

But you will also find, at the top of the page (just below and to the left of banner model Christina Banderas, had to get in a plug for her again) a javascript player, pre-loaded with 27 tracks totaling well over two hours of readings and interpretations, most with music, ranging in genre from folk to rock, electric synthesizers to pastoral cithara.  I like to play, what can I say?

So you can click the play button and sit back and not have to click new tracks (unless you want to replay or skip a track or just keep listening to The Gods of Love, Live at Kyrienar until your head explodes.

Saturday morning footnotes

Written by William F. DeVault on August 2, 2008 – 10:03 am -

Just put up several more new pages at williamfdevault.com.  I’ll let you look for them, but I will sweeten the pot are some great art and photography, including the uber-sultry Christina Banderas and some photo manipulation by my omni-present (of recent) wingman…er…woman, Cody Gibson.  No shame to the others, but those two come to mind, first, take a look at their offerings and I think you will understand.

Busy day ahead of me.  I will be giving out the full squeeze on EVANGELIST this evening, everything except the dedication.  You’ll have to buy one to find that one out.

The Fields of Arbol, revisited

Written by William F. DeVault on July 30, 2008 – 5:37 pm -

What do C.S. Lewis, a Brazilian photographer and model, a Ukraine graphics artist and a fear of speaking have in common? Me!

A long time ago, in the original City of Legends, there was a section named The Fields of Arbol. Anyone? Anyone?

Well, in C.S. Lewis’ Perelandra Trilogy, the fields of Arbol were the space between planets, the sun’s name in "Old Solar" being "Arbol" (and, in an aside note, the phrase in Old Solar for gold was "Arbol Hru", meaning literally "Sun’s blood").

I digress.

In that section I placed a great many recent and inspired works that I couldn’t figure out what else to do with. Now let’s shoot forward a decade or more.

Today I started a project where, on the Amomancer blog, I am dropping fresh poems, inspired by my browsing of art sites associated with people who may have agreed to help with the williamfdevault.com website revision. Still with me?

So, with the name from C.S. Lewis, pieces inspired by the works of such as Brazilian model and photographer Christina Banderas and graphics goddess Katarina Sokolova, a lovely piece inspired by a beautiful photo representing laliophobia (the fear of speaking) and the results of near-brushes with everything from blindness to body-painted fetish models, I began posting the works (almost all with links, a few with pictures) and say, come wander in the Fields of Arbol with me.

You may actually enjoy yourselves.
