this is Ka-Latil
Written by William F. DeVault on January 15, 2010 – 1:52 pm -Don’t ask.
A few moments ago, I removed from distribution two of my books, specifically Ronin in the Temple of Aphrodite and As such…
These were mercurial actions taken because I, as the creator of these works and the arbiter of their fates, chose to. Don’t worry, the excellent pieces within each volume will live on in perhaps future volumes, online, and via already existing print copies of these books.
I’m just getting warmed up. The actual distribution cycle is such that it may be several weeks before the stores list them as out of print.

sweet dreams and flying machines
Written by William F. DeVault on April 20, 2009 – 7:47 am -James Taylor, in his song "Fire and Rain" penned the line "Sweet dreams and flying machines, in pieces on the ground". His own take on "Man proposes but God disposes" or "Man plans, God laughs".
Good intentions are not enough. Well, for God they are, but for the day to day, follow-through needs to be part of the plan. I am so tired of being the white knight, the dutch uncle, the big brother and the wise counselor. You have no idea. But, it seems the role I get stuck with, more often than not, with women I would pursue on a more equitable plane. I need to learn how to discriminate between needy and worthy, perhaps. There is a certain philosophical joy in playing the hero, but it gets very tiresome after a few decades. Everything gets evaluated in the most arch terms. I went over my bibliography over the weekend and decided to dislike everything I have published to date. Okay, Ronin in the Temple of Aphrodite get a D-, but that’s the best I could do.
My standards are changing. I can feel it like the day you bite into a fork full of your favourite food and it no longer thrills you.
That’s why I want to put 1,000 percent of my blood and soul into my next book and CD products, loveaddict and White Sunday. I just want something to my new standards so I can measure them against my old ones.
I’m not giving up, giving out, giving in to the inevitable. (Hmmm…good line for a poem. Oops, already is in one…) If anything, I’m just girding my loins to press harder against the firmament. Making plans, making choice, these narrow the options further down the road. Reminds me of something I wrote when I was 18…
"Lying in fields of orchids, I dream of roses…there is not, there will not be, there can not be enough time to taste all the wines. I should have been immortal."
But I am not, physically, immortal, one day I will join those sweet dreams and flying machines.
